Local Marketing Firm Wins Four Prestigious Telly Awards

Local Marketing Firm Wins Four Prestigious Telly Awards

Topeka, KS – Sprout Creative announced today that its work on behalf of Family Service & Guidance Center of Topeka has been awarded four Silver Telly awards for “Kevin’s Story,” a short biography and Suicide Awareness Public Service Announcement (PSA), in the categories of Editing, Health and Wellness, Not-for-Profit and Biography. This is Sprout’s first time submitting entries, but marks the 40th year of the Telly Awards honoring work in video and television across the globe.

“It’s exciting to be recognized among so many other great projects and production companies,” said Caleb Asher, president and CEO of Sprout Creative. “I am proud of our team and the work we are doing to bring critical issues to light. These Telly Awards validate the quality of that work, but telling compelling stories that make a difference is what gets us excited about coming to work every day.”

On September 25th, 2000, Kevin Hines attempted to take his own life by jumping from the east side of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. Remarkably, he survived that fall and now uses his story of hope and recovery to reach others in need. Since the bridge’s completion in 1937, an estimated 1,700 lives have been lost by suicide, making one of our national icons into a literal harbinger of death. “Kevin’s Story” is a short biographical retelling of that unforgettable day and how it would shape his future. In late 2018, FSGC Topeka brought Kevin to the region to talk to high school administrators, students and the general public about suicide. During that time, Sprout produced a PSA and this extended biography.

“We don’t often enter award competitions, but chose this project in particular because we believe so strongly in Kevin’s message of hope,” said Andrew Ross, director of video production for Sprout Creative. “We believe the recognition will help spread his message to a larger audience. He’s since become an incredible friend and I look forward to our next collaboration on an upcoming documentary.”

This year the Telly Awards celebrated four decades of honoring the video and television industries. Receiving over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents, Telly Award winners represent work from some of the most respected advertising agencies, television stations, production companies and publishers from around the world. Only a limited few in each category are awarded. Entries are judged by leaders from video platforms, television studios, streaming networks and production companies including Vice, Vimeo, Hearst Digital Media, BuzzFeed and A&E Networks.

“Sprout Creative is pushing the boundaries for video and television innovation and creativity at a time when the industry is rapidly changing,” said Sabrina Dridje, managing director of the Telly Awards. “This award is a tribute to the talent and vision of its creators and a celebration of the diversity of work being made today for all screens.”
