KCDC and Envista Announce the Donation Results of the December Envista Cares Challenge
Envista Credit Union, through the Envista Cares Challenge, provided Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with a one-month media package valued at more than $10,000 and a $2,500 challenge grant during the month of December. Kansas Children’s Discovery Center is pleased to report that the community has given $28,270, helping them reach the challenge goal. With the addition of the $2,500 challenge grant from Envista, Kansas Children’s Discovery Center received a total of $30,770 in contributions during December.
“We believe sharing is an important part of play, and building a strong community. The gifts shared by the EnvistaCares Challenge are creating play opportunities for every child — and play matters. Play is essential to children’s development, teaching them about their world and building connections in the brain’s pathways. While playing, children’s natural desire to explore is stimulated. They use scientific processes while playing, exploring, creating and investigating,” said Dené Mosier, President and CEO of the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. “When children play, they are learning to learn. They are building their imaginations — imaginations which will be the solution to the problems of today and tomorrow. Play today is the key to successful and beautiful tomorrows. We are deeply grateful to Envista Credit Union for supporting quality, educational play experiences for our community's future dreamers and leaders.”
“Our goal at Envista is to lead, inspire and make an impact with our giving,” said Tara Dimick, Chief Business Development Officer of Envista. “Kansas Children’s Discovery Center is an incredible example of an organization that leads, inspires and makes an everlasting impact on our community. We are honored to support them, and encourage our community to give.”

The Kansas Children’s Discovery Center is a hands-on children’s museum where children can explore, create, discover and learn through play. The Discovery Center features 15,000 square feet of indoor exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, special space for babies and toddlers, and a 4.5-acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom. Outreach programs bring quality, hands-on experiences into our community to inspire a lifelong love of learning for every child. The Kansas Children’s Discovery Center believes every child deserves rich and diverse museum experiences. We work to remove barriers that prevent play at our children’s museum, including financial, medical and developmental. Children whose play is limited by their medical condition, family situation, or income all need special accommodations and subsidized visits to be able to come to the Discovery Center. One in five visitors received free or subsidized admission based on need. For more information visit www.kansasdiscovery.org .
