Topeka ER & Hospital Marks 2 Months
Since opening its doors on July 27, 2020, Topeka ER & Hospital, the first micro-hospital in Topeka, has provided emergency and hospital care to hundreds of patients in the Topeka area.
Jared Schreiner, M.D., chief medical officer and emergency medicine physician, says he is proud of how the hospital is delivering on its mission of providing quick, compassionate emergency care to the Topeka community.
“Our staff has been exemplary in providing concierge-level care to our patients,” he says, adding that of the many five-star reviews on Google, some even mention staff by name. “It’s gratifying when you know you’ve connected with a patient, so much so that they go out of their way to say ‘thank you.’”
The Topeka ER & Hospital staff includes 11 board-certified emergency medicine physicians, a pharmacist, experienced RNs, LPNs, lab techs, radiology techs and advanced EMTs. All of the employees have experience in emergency medicine, which Dr. Schreiner credits for the high quality of patient care.
He also says Topeka ER & Hospital’s welcoming and relaxing design helps patients feel more at ease during what is often a stressful time.
“It’s spacious but streamlined,” he says. “Patients go from our front doors to an emergency bed in a matter of a few steps without having to navigate several hallways or multiple floors.” In its 17,700 square feet of space, Topeka ER & Hospital features eight emergency beds, six inpatient beds, a pharmacy and a suite of state-of-the-art advanced imaging, radiology and laboratory equipment including MRI, X-ray, CT scan and ultrasound.
“Our on-site lab and testing are another plus for patients because of their proximity – literally just around the corner – and how quickly we can perform tests and get results,” he says. “This means little to no waiting for patients who can then spend more one-on-one time with their physician.”
