YWCA Northeast Kansas Accepting Nominations for 33rd Annual Women of Excellence Awards

YWCA Northeast Kansas Accepting Nominations for 33rd Annual Women of Excellence Awards

YWCA Northeast Kansas is now accepting nominations for the 33rd Annual Women of Excellence Awards. Local businesses, firms, and organizations are invited to submit a nomination for an individual they would like to honor at this year’s Women of Excellence Awards. The nomination form can be found at www.ywcaneks.org/woe, and nominations are due by Friday, July 2.

The event, which will take place on September 15th, honors and celebrates the work, volunteer contributions, and leadership of outstanding women who make a difference in our community. All honorees are recognized at the event, and the YWCA Women of Excellence Nominating Committee will name a Woman of Excellence in each award category.

Who is a Woman of Excellence? Our honorees are women who:

Exhibit leadership skills in their field of expertise. Advocate for positive social change that helps close the leadership gap and creates a more equitable society. Are dedicated to helping women and girls achieve their goals. Exhibit qualities of teamwork, integrity, and dedication. Reinforce policies, practices, attitudes, and/or actions that are intended to produce equitable outcomes for all. Demonstrate a commitment to the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

This year’s theme, “Ignite & Inspire”, honors the ways in which local women leaders improve their community by lifting up those around them, and lighting a path to a stronger, healthier Topeka.  “We look forward to honoring women who, during one of the most challenging years we’ve known, continued to excel by radically reimagining what it means to be a leader,” said Kathleen Marker, YWCA Northeast Kansas CEO. “They met the challenges of the past year with vision, creativity, and unwavering dedication to their goals.”

Honorees and their guests will be invited to an in-person reception at The Beacon in downtown Topeka on Wednesday, September 15, followed by a live virtual program open to the public. Visit www.ywcaneks.org/woe for more information.

As the largest annual fundraiser, the Women of Excellence Awards supports the crucial programs at YWCA Northeast Kansas: supporting women and children experiencing violence, and providing racial justice programming, affordable childcare, professional development, and so much more. Last year, the event raised over $17,000 in individual donations. YWCA Northeast Kansas has honored over 700 Women of Excellence since the event began in 1977.
