Stuff the Bus is Hitting the Road to Benefit Boys & Girls Club of Topeka
Stuff the Bus is an annual school and program supply drive benefiting Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka (BGCT). This project began in 2016 as a community project created by Leadership Greater Topeka, and is now in its sixth year of making an incredible impact on the 14 Club site locations of BGCT. In the first five year of the event, over $71,000 worth of supplies and monetary contributions were donated toward the effort. Beginning last year, the event “hit the road” in BGCT vans and buses to visit donors at scheduled pick up times to collect the donated supplies and thank them for their generosity in person. A fun way to easily invest in our community and the kids served at the Clubs, Stuff the Bus “Hits the Road” is a great way to get out in the community and witness first-hand the impact being made.
“While the summer might seem like an unusual time to collect school supplies because the kids aren’t actually in school, it makes perfect sense for Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka,” said Jennifer LeClair, Vice President of Development. “Our academic programming doesn’t stop during winter break, spring break, or summer break. The kids in our Clubs engage in programming year-round that centers on Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship. We are so grateful for the community support provided by Stuff the Bus, as it helps supplement our efforts throughout the entire year.”
