The 2021 Aaron Douglas Art Fair (ADAF) Takes Place Saturday, September 25th
The 2021 Aaron Douglas Art Fair is happening Saturday, September 25th, in Aaron Douglas Art Park at SW 12th and Lane from 10am to 5pm. 2021 marks 16 years of the family-friendly Fair celebrating and bringing together a diverse group of new and emerging artists and entertainers from our local community. Along with the artists booths, there will be live music and entertainment on the Main Stage, youth activities and free kids t-shirts (while they last) in the Kids Tent, an interactive art area, and new this year is our Poetry Pavilion behind the Aaron Douglas Mural and the Art Bus just across from the Pavilion. As always, admission and all activities are free of charge and open to the public. A variety of food and drinks will also be available for purchase from local organizations.
This year’s Fair has parted with tradition on a number of fronts. After the first ever virtual fair of 2020, we return to the in person fair this year with live music, poetry reading and children’s activities. Interactive art exhibit designed by Vernon Neff features Lego Mosaic’s. The 2021 featured artist, Aisha Imani Sanaa, creates multimedia collages celebrating black pride, history and culture. Fairgoers and art patrons can see and engage with the artist and her work at her booth near the entrance. Schedules for the Main Stage and Poetry Pavilion will be posted at the Fair and can also be found on the Aaron Douglas Art Fair Facebook page.
All are invited to join us on Saturday and be part of this exciting Topeka tradition at the Aaron Douglas Art Park in historic Tennessee Town.
