The Mulvane Art Museum Announces Staff Updates

The Mulvane Art Museum is thrilled to welcome two new staff members and formally announce a recent promotion.

Nikaela Zimmerman, Collections Manager/Registrar, is a native Kansan and comes to the Mulvane with more than 17 years of experience in museum registration. She has an M.A. in Museum Studies and B.A.s in History and Psychology from the University of Kansas, as well as a Level 1 Certificate in museum preservation practices. Zimmerman served as Registrar at the Kansas Museum of History for more than a decade and was Assistant Registrar prior to that. As Collections Manager at the Mulvane, Zimmerman will oversee the museum’s permanent collection of more than 6000 objects and aid in the research, planning, and development of exhibitions and educational programs associated with the collection.

Ana Donley, Office and Museum Services Coordinator, is a graduate of Washburn University with a B.A. in Art History with an emphasis on Museum Studies, and a B.A. in Religious Studies. She was a student intern at the Mulvane Art Museum, then Student Research Assistant, and most recently has been the Collections and Special Exhibitions Assistant. In her new role, Donley will be responsible for a wide range of office and museum coordination and will serve as a liaison with other university offices.

Kristin Chanay, formerly the museum’s Office and Visitor Services Center Coordinator, has been promoted to the position of Assistant Director. She has a B.A. in Journalism and an M.A. in Higher Education Administration, both from the University of Kansas. Chanay has several years of experience in fundraising, event planning and non-profit board service and has served as a Director of Development at KU Endowment and the United Methodist Homes, Inc. In her new role, Chanay will continue to work closely with Washburn University’s Foundation and the greater Topeka community to foster meaningful relationships and promote the Mulvane Art Museum’s exhibitions, educational programs, and outreach.

The Mulvane Art Museum is open with restrictions (face masks and social distancing required) on the following days: Tuesdays 12 to 7; Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 12 to 5, and Saturdays 12 to 4. ArtLab is temporarily closed to the public.
