Washburn Tech Announces Summer Camp
Learn what it’s like to assist in surgery before heading to the welding lab to make sparks fly. Or get behind the controls of an excavator after learning how to prepare a delicious dish in the culinary kitchen. Those are just a few of the exciting opportunities awaiting kids at Washburn Tech’s Summer Camp at 5724 SW Huntoon St.
Registration is now open for two sessions that are designed to inspire young minds as they explore their interests and even consider future careers. The first session from June 6 - 9 is designed for students entering the seventh and eighth grades while students entering the ninth and tenth grades may attend the second session from June 13 – 16. Camp runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily and costs $75 which includes morning and afternoon snacks. Campers are asked to provide their own lunch.
Participants will be able to choose from several areas of career exploration. The choices include Auto Collision and Repair, Auto Service Technician, Commercial and Heavy Construction, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Diesel Technology, Electrical, Sterile Processing/Surgical Technology and Welding.
The deadline for applications is May 4 or until sessions are full. Packets are available in the Washburn Tech Main Office or at WashburnTech.edu. For more information, contact tech.studentservices@washburn.edu or call (785) 670.2200.
