Topeka Zoo Observes World Oceans Day
Thursday June 8 is the international celebration of World Oceans Day, an effort to highlight how crucial oceans are to the wellbeing of our planet. The Topeka Zoo will observe World Oceans Day on Saturday, June 10.
With over 70% of the Earth’s surface covered by oceans, World Oceans Day is an opportunity to celebrate the world’s oceans and our personal connections to the sea.
“This day is our chance to remember that even from NE Kansas in the middle of the country, so far from the nearest ocean or shoreline, we still make decisions that impact on the health of the world’s oceans, and we must make good decisions to protect those oceans” said Dennis Dinwiddie, Director of Conservation at the Topeka Zoo.
Ocean’s Day at the Zoo will see booth’s and activities around the Zoo for guests to enjoy, with make and take crafts, edible crafts, and lots of education stations, as well as grilling seafood on the Zoo’s walkways for seafood samplings.
Join us on Saturday, June 10, 9:00 - 3:00 at the Topeka Zoo to celebrate the world’s oceans, eat great seafood, and enjoy crafts for kids of all ages.
