Stormont Vail Health Encourages Community Health Needs Assessment Participation and Holds Kick Off Event

Stormont Vail Health is helping launch the 2024 Shawnee County Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) in partnership with community organizations and health groups. The CHNA is conducted every three years to identify key health assets, needs, and disparities in Shawnee County.

Over the next several weeks, the CHNA Steering Committee will complete the county’s fifth community health assessment through a comprehensive perception survey, data collection, research, and analysis. The goal is to gain a complete understanding of the public health issues affecting Shawnee County communities and provide accurate data to develop strategies that improve the health of Shawnee County.

County residents are encouraged to participate in this process by taking the Shawnee County Community Health Survey, available in English and Spanish by accessing the links below:

English: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ShawneeCHNA
Español: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ShawneeCHNAespanol

This confidential survey will take less than 10 minutes to complete and will be open through April 30, 2024. Physical copies will also be available at multiple community sites throughout Shawnee County.

“The CHNA is a crucial tool that benefits everyone in our community, not just the organizations conducting it,” Karla Hedquist, Stormont Vail Directory of Community Engagement, said. “We hope this survey gives those who have historically lacked a platform to share their voice an opportunity to provide feedback so all have a chance to be heard.”

Community-based organizations participating with Stormont Vail in the 2024 Shawnee County Community Health Assessment Steering Committee include United Way of Kaw Valley, LiveWell Shawnee County, Valeo Behavioral Healthcare, Family Service & Guidance Center, GraceMed Health Clinic, the University of Kansas St. Francis, and the Shawnee County Health Department.

Stormont Vail invites our community and media partners to a kick-off event on March 11. The above organizations will gather with the community to demonstrate how they can participate in the survey, why it will benefit them and their neighbors, and an opportunity to complete the survey at that time.

As a media partner, please RSVP to MollyPatt Eyestone at molly.eyestone@stormontvail.org or (785) 581-2996.

When: March 11, 2 – 3 p.m. Where: TSCPL Auditorium 101A
