Local Organizations Unite to Launch Historic Cancer Awareness Campaign at West Ridge Mall
Make Pink Lemonade Foundation and the American Cancer Society announce an unprecedented collaboration launching February 1st, 2025, at West Ridge Mall. The Paint the Town Pink Kickoff Celebration marks the beginning of a transformative year-long cancer awareness campaign culminating in a Guinness World Record attempt.
The kickoff event features the Topeka Symphony Orchestra and brings together local businesses, healthcare providers, and community organizations in a vibrant celebration of hope and education. This free, family-friendly event runs from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM and launches a series of educational programs designed to increase cancer awareness and early detection across all communities.
"We're seeing younger people affected by various cancers, and many in our community face additional barriers to early detection," says Jessica Morton-Williams, founder of Make Pink Lemonade Foundation. "This campaign transforms how we approach cancer awareness and education in Topeka. It's about bringing our entire community together to make real change."
The year-long initiative will feature health fairs, educational workshops, and community gatherings throughout 2025. All activities build toward a historic Guinness World Record attempt during the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in October 2025.
"This collaboration represents a powerful step forward in our mission," says Stephanie Weiter, Associate Director of Development at the American Cancer Society. "By combining our resources and reaching people where they gather, we can create lasting impact in cancer awareness and prevention."
