Ken Schmanke to be Honored as Sales and Marketing Executives of Topeka Executive of the Year

Sales and Marketing Executives of Topeka (SME Topeka) are thrilled to host their annual Executive of the Year banquet on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Townsite Topeka, where they will honor Ken Schmanke, the founder and president of K1 Realty LLC and managing member of Townsite Tower.

The celebration will kick off with a cocktail social at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner, the award presentation, and comments from Ken. He will discuss his business endeavors and practices that have helped foster his success over the last 35+ years in the Topeka community.

Guest tickets are $60 and can be purchased at:

Ken’s journey in real estate began in 1988. Since then, he has been a leading producer in the Topeka commercial real estate market. His experience includes over 2,000 transactions totaling in excess of $600 million in value. Ken’s career path led to the formation of K1 Realty LLC in 2015.

He has helped modernize and update the Townsite Tower since purchasing it in July 2020. It now features renovated offices and public areas, a new coworking space, a refreshed Townsite Café, and a new art design on the building’s exterior. In addition to Townsite, Ken and his team are hard at work redeveloping Four2Four (Downtown Post Office located at 424 S Kansas Ave) into a mixed-use office and residential property, featuring 29 apartment units that will be available for occupancy by the end of 2025.

SME’s Executive of the Year award recognizes individuals who have contributed to the well-being of Northeast Kansans. Criteria for the award include an executive who has demonstrated a unique accomplishment during the year honored and a positive impact on commerce in the Topeka community.

The first award was presented in 1970 to Kansas Governor Robert Docking. Past recipients of the award also include Nancy Perry, Cody Foster, Governor Alf Landon, and many more.
