Envista Federal Credit Union Partners with Topeka North Outreach to Fight Childhood Hunger in Topeka
Envista Federal Credit Union is strengthening its commitment to their local community by partnering with Topeka North Outreach and their Operation Backpack program – a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing food security for children in Topeka. Through the EnvistaCares initiative, Envista employees selected Operation Backpack as an initiative to support through financial resources and volunteer efforts, recognizing the essential work the organization does to ensure children have access to healthy food over the weekend.
Operation Backpack provides food sacks to 14 local schools and community centers, offering a vital resource for children who might otherwise go without meals when school is not in session. The $5,000 donation from Envista will support the nonprofit’s efforts in purchasing and distributing nutritious food to children in need.
“EnvistaCares is about making a meaningful impact in our community,” said Val Williams, VP of Marketing at Envista Federal Credit Union. “We believe in the power of collective action and the difference we can make when we come together for a cause. Operation Backpack is doing incredible work to combat childhood hunger, and we are honored to support their mission with this donation.”
In addition to the financial contribution, Envista is committed to raising awareness about food insecurity and encouraging staff volunteerism to further support Operation Backpack’s mission. The partnership aligns with Envista’s dedication to leading, inspiring, and making a lasting impact in the community.
“Envista’s support will help feed our program participants for half of a month,” said Julie Falk, Operation Backpack Coordinator. “The volunteer time their employees are providing will help us reach our goal of assembling 3,000 weekend food sacks in one night, as well as giving our regular delivery team a respite from their year-round, weekly service to the young recipients in our program. We are so appreciative of their generosity!”
