PARS Celebrates 60 Years of Prevention, Education, and Community Resilience
Prevention and Resiliency Services (PARS) is proud to celebrate six decades of dedicated service to individuals, families, and neighborhoods throughout the Topeka community. Since its founding in 1965, PARS has worked to build a safer, healthier, and more resilient region through evidence-based alcohol and drug education, prevention, and support programs.
To commemorate this milestone, PARS will host a 60th Anniversary Open House on Thursday, June 12, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at its offices located at 2209 SW 29th Street in Topeka. The event is open to the public, and all current and former board members, staff, clients, volunteers, friends, and community partners are warmly invited to attend.
In honor of this historic occasion, PARS is also launching a 60th Anniversary Fund Development Initiative aimed at expanding its reach and impact. Community members are encouraged to contribute by donating $60 or any amount ending in "60" (e.g., $160, $560) in support of the organization’s mission to empower neighborhoods and strengthen families.
All donors to the initiative will be recognized with:
A special 60th Anniversary commemorative gift
Recognition on the PARS website
Acknowledgment in the organization’s annual impact report
“This anniversary is not just a celebration of our past—it’s an investment in our future,” said Mandy Czechanski, Executive Director of PARS. “Our work is made possible by the many people who have believed in prevention, education, and community resilience. This campaign helps ensure we can serve the next generation with the same dedication and care.”
As part of the celebration, PARS is also collecting stories and testimonials from former clients, partners, and supporters whose lives have been touched by its work over the past 60 years. These reflections will be shared throughout the year to honor the organization’s enduring impact and legacy.
While PARS has evolved over the decades, its unwavering commitment to prevention and early intervention has remained constant. With continued community support, PARS will carry this mission forward—building a healthier, stronger Kansas for generations to come.
