Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka Celebrates Success of 10th Anniversary Stuff The Bus Supply Drive, Marks Biggest Year Yet With Support From Local Companies

Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka (BGCT) is proud to announce that its 10th annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive held this summer achieved record-breaking results, raising more than $25,000 to support Topeka children. This year’s total includes $7,770 in monetary contributions and $17,390 in in-kind supply donations.

The effort was powered by the generosity of Topeka community members and local companies, including FHLBank Topeka, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Kansas Gas Service, Mars, MCP Group, Schwerdt Design Group, Security Benefit and TLC Pet Nursing Hotel.

“We are incredibly grateful to each and every donor who helped us surpass our goal this year,” said Dawn McWilliams, BGCT CEO. “Stuff the Bus is about more than school supplies. It’s about equipping our kids with the confidence and resources they need to focus on learning and take advantage of the life-changing programs we offer. This outpouring of generosity demonstrates the power of our community coming together to invest in the future of our youth.”

Since its inception as a Leadership Greater Topeka (LGT) class project, Stuff the Bus has raised a total of more than $167,000 in supplies and donations to ensure Topeka students have access to the resources and programs they need to succeed.

“From the very beginning, Stuff the Bus was about showing up for kids in our community,” said Pat Colley, longtime champion of Stuff the Bus and a member of the LGT class that launched the effort. “Seeing the way this initiative has grown over the past decade is a testament to the commitment of Topeka businesses and individuals eager to make a real difference.”
