Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka to Host 2026 UNHEARD Conference Focused on Preparing Youth for the Future

Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka will host the 2026 UNHEARD Conference on March 12–13 at the Topeka Center for Advanced Learning & Careers (TCALC), bringing together students, families, educators, and community leaders to explore life skills, career pathways, and the support systems young people need to succeed.

UNHEARD Conference Details:

Topeka Center for Advanced Learning & Careers (TCALC)
500 SW Tuffy Kellogg Dr.
Topeka, KS 66606

UNHEARD 2026 focuses on real-world life skills, career exploration, and meaningful conversations across generations about what young people need to be truly “ready for what’s next.”

The conference will run 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day with identical programming on both March 12 and March 13, allowing attendees to participate on the day that best fits their schedule. Media are welcome to attend either day, as the conference schedule and programming will be mirrored.

Throughout the day, participants will engage in interactive experiences, discussions, and breakout sessions designed to equip students and families with practical tools for navigating education, relationships, and career decisions.

The event includes:

  • A Reality-U financial simulation, an interactive experience where students navigate real-world budgeting decisions and financial responsibilities

  • Vision board workshops focused on goal setting and personal growth

  • Whole-group discussions exploring how communities can better support youth

  • Breakout sessions covering leadership, mental wellness, decision-making, and building strong support networks

  • Resource connections with community partners and organizations

Conference sessions will explore topics such as balancing responsibilities without burnout, finding your voice in challenging environments, strengthening support networks, and making thoughtful decisions about the future.

The event also highlights youth leadership, with middle and high school students serving as presenters, facilitators, and volunteers representing schools across Topeka.

“Young people have important perspectives about what it means to prepare for the future, but those voices are often overlooked,” said Torey Burkhardt, Director of Events & Alumni Engagement at Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka. “The UNHEARD Conference creates a space where students, families, educators, and community leaders can listen to one another and work together to build stronger pathways for the next generation of leaders in Topeka.”

Registration is currently open and will remain available throughout the event. Community members may register in advance or complete their online registration on either day of the conference at: www.bgctopeka.org or https://secure.givelively.org/event/boys-and-girls-club-of-topeka/unheard-conference-2026/unheard-conference-2026
