Topeka Youth Commission Launches Stay785 Grant Initiative to Empower Youth-Led Community Projects
The Topeka Youth Commission is excited to announce the launch of the Stay785 Grant Initiative, a youth-led funding program created to support projects that strengthen Topeka and Shawnee County while encouraging young people to invest in the future of the 785 community.
Through the initiative, local youth will have the opportunity to apply for grant funding to develop and lead projects focused on improving the community, increasing youth engagement, and creating positive local impact. The program is intended to empower young people to take an active role in shaping the future of Topeka through innovative ideas and community-driven solutions.
Applicants under the age of 21, in partnership with a local organization or sponsor, will be eligible to apply for funding for projects that align with the mission of Stay785. Applications will be reviewed by members of the Topeka Youth Commission, with awards determined based on creativity, feasibility, leadership, and overall community impact. Applications close June 1st, 2026 at 11:59 P .M.
The Stay785 initiative was created to provide youth with meaningful opportunities to bring their ideas to life while helping make Topeka a place where young people want to live, work, and build their future.
Eligible projects may include, but are not limited to:
• Community beautification projects
• Murals and public art installations
• Youth leadership and mentorship programs
• Community events and outreach initiatives
• Improvements to local public spaces and attractions
• Educational and civic engagement projects
The Topeka Youth Commission believes youth perspectives are essential to the continued growthand success of the community and hopes the Stay785 initiative will inspire the next generation of leaders to become actively involved in shaping the future of Topeka and Shawnee County.
