Propane Marketers Association of Kansas Launches “Blue Flame Safe” Campaign to Promote Propane Safety

The Propane Marketers Association of Kansas (PMAK) has launched the Blue Flame Safe Campaign, a statewide initiative focused on promoting safe propane use while educating Kansans about the fuel’s benefits.

Propane, also known as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), is a nontoxic, clean-burning energy source widely used for heating, cooking, agriculture and transportation. As technology advances, its applications continue to grow, including use as propane autogas for vehicles.

“Safety is at the core of our industry,” said Emily Haas, President of PMAK and Petroleum Manager at Central Prairie Co-Op in Sterling. “The Blue Flame Safe Campaign helps ensure that Kansans understand how to use propane safely while highlighting why it remains a reliable and efficient energy choice for homes, farms and businesses.”

Propane is recognized as a clean fuel under the Clean Air Act, producing fewer emissions than gasoline or fuel oil. It is also a reliable energy source that operates independently of the electric grid, making it especially valuable during severe weather and outages.

“With propane in strong supply across the U.S., Kansas families, farmers and businesses benefit from a reliable, homegrown energy source,” said Brett Fletcher, Vice President of PMAK and Co-Owner of B&P Propane in Holton. “That abundance means consistent access, competitive pricing and the energy security our rural communities depend on.”

As part of the Blue Flame Safe Campaign, PMAK will offer educational materials, safety training resources and statewide outreach efforts aimed at increasing awareness and promoting responsible propane use. Learn more about the campaign here: https://www.pmak.org/blue-flame
