The Topeka Chapter Of The Links, Incorporated Bringing Miami Heat Player Development Specialist Remy Ndiaye To Topeka In August For Elite Basketball Clinic
This August, youth and college-aged basketball players in northeast Kansas will have a rare opportunity to train with an NBA coach. On Aug. 8, Remy Ndiaye, Player Development Specialist for the Miami Heat, will visit Topeka to lead an elite clinic for current and aspiring athletes who want to increase their confidence and skills.
Sponsored by The Topeka (KS) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, the elite clinic will take place Saturday, Aug. 8 in the Topeka High School gymnasium, with support from the Topek Public Schools Foundation. The one-day event—split into two grade-specific sessions, one in the morning and another in the afternoon—is designed to help young athletes elevate their basketball skills, while building character and discipline that will serve them on and off the court.
“This is the first time Remy is providing an elite, NBA-level clinic experience to players in the Topeka area,” said Kimberley Brown, President of The Topeka (KS) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. “We’re thrilled to have him in Kansas’ capital city and can’t wait to make this one-of-a-kind opportunity available to our community. We believe young people deserve access to experiences that expand their horizons and inspire them to pursue excellence. This clinic is a perfect example of that belief in action.”
Ndiaye has spent the past several NBA seasons developing professional athletes with the Miami Heat and working with coaches on strategy. After earning a master’s degree in sports management, Ndiaye started his career as an intern for the NBA Summer League. Fromthere, he accepted his first full-time position with the Philadelphia 76ers. His professional journey builds on experience with the Sports for Education and Economic Development (SEED) project, time as a graduate assistant basketball coach, and helping youth and coaches in Rwanda develop basketball skills through Boston’s Shooting Touch program with NBA Africa.
“I’m excited to bring my experience to Topeka and can’t wait to see the impact this clinic has on local youth,” Ndiaye said. “Developing elite basketball skills is about so much more than playing a game. Sports can change lives by teaching resilience, teamwork and confidence. Whether a participant dreams of playing college basketball, pursuing the NBA or simply becoming the best version of themself, we want every young person to walk away believing they can accomplish more than they ever imagined. ”
The Aug. 8 clinic will feature a 9-11 a.m. session open to children in third through eighth grades. High school and college-aged players are invited to take part in an afternoon session from 1-4 p.m. The day will conclude with a “Bleacher Talk” at 4 p.m., during which Ndiaye will answer questions from athletes, parents and community members; discuss his journey to the NBA; and share insights into the habits, mindset and work ethic required to compete at the highest levels of basketball.
In addition to professional instruction, participants will have chances to compete in three- point and free-throw contests, receive a commemorative T-shirt, and win trophies. Registration is $100 per participant, plus the donation of a new book. Donated books for pre-K to eighth grade further reinforce The Topeka (KS) Chapter’s dedication to promoting literacy and youth development.
Elite clinic registration is first come, first served, and spots are limited. The event reflects The Topeka Links’ commitment to investing in and mentoring youth, through programming that creates opportunities for young people to thrive academically, socially and become future leaders.
