Touch-A-Truck Returns To Downtown Topeka This September
Downtown Topeka Touch-A-Truck returns Saturday, September 12. The free family event will bring vehicles, equipment and hands-on experiences to Evergy Plaza from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Organized by Downtown Topeka, Inc. and the Greater Topeka Partnership, Touch-A- Truck gives children and families the opportunity to climb aboard, explore vehicles up close and meet some of the people who operate them.
From fire trucks and emergency vehicles to heavy construction equipment, the event introduces young attendees to the machines, people and careers that help build and serve the community.
Beyond giving children a closer look at specialized vehicles, Touch-A-Truck creates opportunities for them to ask questions, learn how the equipment is used and discover the careers connected to it. Vehicle operators will be on hand to share how their work helps build and serve the community.
“We want every child who attends Touch-A-Truck to feel welcome, included and excited about what their future could hold,” said John Koop, vice president of events and member engagement for the Greater Topeka Partnership.
Touch-A-Truck is committed to creating an inclusive experience for children and families. From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., the event will host a Quiet Hour for children and individuals who may be sensitive to loud noises, large crowds or other forms of sensory stimulation. During this time, participating vehicles will limit horns, sirens and other loud sounds.
Touch-A-Truck 2026 is fueled by presenting sponsor Jamie Hornbaker State Farm.
