MTAA Names New President, Curtis Sneden

The Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority (MTAA) announced today the selection of Curtis Sneden as the MTAA’s new President and Executive Director. Sneden’s appointment is effective immediately.

“Following a nationwide selection process involving many qualified candidates, the MTAA Boardis pleased to promote Curtis Sneden to the role of President and Executive Director of the MTAA,” said Sam Sutton, Chairman of the MTAA Board of Directors. “We were impressed by what Curtis accomplished in his three years as our Director of Development and his vision for the future of aviation in Topeka. He is the right person to lead us into the next chapter of our growth.”

Prior to joining the MTAA in 2023, Sneden was President of the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce and a Senior Executive with the Greater Topeka Partnership. In his new role, Sneden will drive the MTAA’s strategic direction and development and will provide overall executive management at Topeka’s two airports. “The MTAA has a solid foundation, a terrific team and partners throughout the community all committed to bringing transformative growth to our airports. We are setting a new trajectory and I am excited to lead it,” Sneden said.

Sneden’s appointment follows the retirement of Eric Johnson, who has served as President and Director of Airports at the MTAA for 20 years. “The Board extends its sincere appreciation to Eric Johnson for two decades of dedicated service,” Sutton said. “Eric demonstrated his deep commitment to the MTAA and to the Topeka community by helping guide us through significant changes and contributing to the continued operation and development of our airports.”

“Serving the MTAA has been a privilege,” Johnson said. “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with our skilled and dedicated employees and am proud of what we have accomplished together. The MTAA has a bright future. I wish Curtis and the entire MTAA team great success in the years ahead.”
