Midland Care Names Dr. Scott Paxton Hospice And Palliative Care Medical Director
Midland Care has named Scott A. Paxton, DO, as its new Hospice and Palliative Care Medical Director, adding a nationally recognized physician leader with more than 15 years of experience in hospice and palliative medicine to its clinical leadership team.
Dr. Paxton is board certified in both Family Practice and Hospice and Palliative Medicine and has spent his career advancing compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals living with serious illness. He joins Midland Care after serving as Associate Medical Director for Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Wisconsin.
Prior to that role, Dr. Paxton served as National Hospice Medical Director for Elara Caring, one of the nation's largest providers of hospice and home-based care, after previously serving as the organization's Hospice Medical Director. Earlier in his career, he spent several years as Hospice and Palliative Medical Director for Great Lakes Caring, where he led interdisciplinary hospice teams, developed outpatient palliative care programs, collaborated with health systems and long-term care providers, and provided education on hospice, symptom management, advance care planning, and end-of-life care.

As Hospice and Palliative Care Medical Director, Dr. Paxton will provide physician leadership for Midland Care's hospice and palliative care services, working closely with interdisciplinary teams to support high-quality, evidence-based care while helping patients and families navigate serious illness with dignity, comfort, and compassion.
Dr. Paxton earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Michigan State University, a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa, and a Master of Business Administration from Ohio University. He is board certified in Family Practice and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
