Soho Interiors (3129 SW Huntoon): "Stone's Folly - The Calm Before the Storm" by artist, T. R. Bauer is on exhibit during this First Friday and throughSeptember 29. The pigment for the stone and brick color was made using actual fragments from the mansion that were ground into powder. Topeka Art Guild and Gallery (5331 SW 22nd Pl - Fairlawn Plaza): It's a Birthday Party! You can have your cake and eat it too at Fairlawn Plaza Mall. The Guild celebrates 100 years of art with original paintings for sale in the mall that feature cake. One half of the proceeds from these painting sales will go to ARTSConnect, the non-profit organization that provides First Friday information to the Topeka community and half to the artist. Your support helps make Topeka a great place for art. There will be champagne and cake for your tasting palate provided by Fairlawn Plaza Mall. Topeka Art Guild will have an art activity table for guests. Also in the gallery is original art by Topeka community art educators. The Art Guild has occupied space and has had an association over the years with Topeka High School, Mulvane Art Museum, the Topeka Women's Club, Gage Shopping Center, before moving to Fairlawn Plaza Mall in 2003. 5-8p.

Stepping outside the common practices used in making art, Charles put his fondness for printmaking and rusted sculptures together. The results are fantastic! Beauchamp's Gallery (3113 SW Huntoon) opens a new exhibit this First Friday - "Yeqiang Wang: In the Prairie". This show features a collection of prairie images in both oil and watercolor. Ye is known for his style of heightened photo-realism and he utilizes this approach to capture big skies, shaded creeks, prairie burns and rolling hills.
