Heroes Honored on Wall of Tribute

Penwell-GabelLogoMemorial Day is a time to honor the men and women, past and present, who have held steadfast in their duty to protect and serve our country. In appreciation of their service, Penwell-Gabel will display a photographic Wall of Tribute this Memorial Day weekend from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery Mausoleum at Sixth and Gage St. At 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30, the cemetery will host a Memorial Day ceremony that will include a ride through the grounds by the American Legion Riders, a wreath-laying ceremony and remarks by Kansas Army National Guard Lt. Col. Erich Campbell.

The community is encouraged to join in the recognition by submitting their photos of military or civic heroes to the cemetery office at Sixth and Gage during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by emailing them to WallOfTribute@PenwellGabel.com. This is the 10th year for the Wall of Tribute.

“This is an inspiring way for anyone to honor his or her own special heroes,” said Ren Newcomer, owner of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Homes, Crematories and Cemeteries. “We really want to encourage everyone to submit a photo of each friend or loved one who has served, or is now serving, our country in the military or civil service.”
