LGT Group Works to Address Urgent Need

A group from the 2016 Leadership Greater Topeka (LGT) class is working with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka address their most urgent need, program supplies. The LGT group will collect donations of supplies  with the goal to fill an entire school bus. school-supply-listThe Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka After School Program for children (ages K-12) is in need of the following supplies:

  • Construction Paper
  • White Boards
  • Spiral/Composition Notebooks
  • Copy Paper
  • Lined Notebook Paper
  • Rulers
  • Graph Paper
  • Markers
  • Pens
  • Crayons
  • Dry Erase Markers

The group will collect donations between now and the Stuff the Bus event on April 22. G’s Frozen Custard is collecting donations from April 4 through April 20, and will offer a 25% discount on one item with a donation.

The group has set up a Facebook event, called “Stuff the Bus,” where updated information about collection locations prior to the April 22 event can be found.

The final Stuff the Bus collection event will be on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the following locations:

12:00pm – 1:30pm         Wal-Mart North Topeka (Rochester Road)

2:00pm – 3:30pm           Southwest Wal-Mart (Wanamaker Road)

4:00pm – 5:30pm           Westar Energy Pocket Park (Kansas Avenue)

Monetary donations will also be accepted and will be used to purchase additional supplies.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka strives to provide an atmosphere that promotes education, giving the students the motivation and encouragement they need to excel in their education. Education for many Boys & Girls Clubs children is a year-round process and supplies are in constant need.
