TOPEKA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION CELEBRATES ‘GIVING TUESDAY’ BY RECOGNIZING 2016 GRANTEES and ANNOUNCING TOPEKA GIVES 2017 DATE, MATCH AMOUNT
"We can think of no better way to celebrate ‘Giving Tuesday’ than by celebrating the tremendous impact made by more than $2.4 million which was granted by the Foundation in 2016,” said Marsha Pope, Topeka Community Foundation President. “Grants range from hundreds of dollars to tens of thousands of dollars and were awarded to charitable groups as diverse as social service agencies to arts organizations.”
Additionally, the Foundation will be announcing the date and amount of match money available for Topeka Gives 2017. The widely-popular day of giving will be returning for a fifth year. Last year, almost a half million dollars was distributed as a result of the event – which provides “match money” for contributions to participating organizations.
The Foundation, with assets of $48 million, manages more than 390 separate funds for individuals, businesses and civic organizations.
The mission of the Topeka Community Foundation is to connect donors with their interests and community needs, increase charitable giving in the community, provide leadership on key community issues and ensure stewardship and accountability for effective community investment of donor dollars.
