Voter Turnout Prediction and Other Voter Info for Tomorrow's General Election

Election Commissioner Andrew Howell is predicting an 11.5% voter turnout for Shawnee County in the General Election being held tomorrow, November 5th. The 2015 General Election turnout was 12.86%. The recent average for local municipal general elections without the Topeka Mayor on the ballot is 15.53%. However, there are more registered voters this year with Shawnee County having 110,283 registered voters compared to 106,126 registered voters in 2015.

Election Commissioner Howell is also reminding voters of the following items for voter’s going to the Polling Place on Election Day:

  • By state law, there is no voting at the Election Office on Election Day. If voters come to the Election Office to vote they will be directed to their polling place since early voting at the Election Office ended today at noon per state statute.

  • Voters should note the location of there voting place. Voters may verify their voting place by calling the Election Office at 785-251-5900 or online at: https://myvoteinfo.voteks.org/VoterView/PollingPlaceSearch.do. It’s important for voters to go to their assigned polling location. as only that. polling place will have the voter’s correct ballot. Precincts have unique ballots due to the configuration of districts.

  • Voters should be aware of road construction and street closures to and around their voting place. Alternate routes or access may be necessary in some cases and some voters may want to consider preplanning their route to their polling place.

  • Voters may also view their Sample Ballots online at: https://myvoteinfo.voteks.org/VoterView/RegistrantSearch.do
