2019 Small Business Procurement Day Offers Local Business Training, Connections and Contracting Opportunities

The Greater Topeka Partnership, GO Topeka’s Entrepreneurial & Minority Business Development (EMBD) program and Kansas Procurement Technical Assistance Center (KS PTAC) have partnered with the 923rd Contracting Battalion (CBN)/Mission and Installation Contracting Command (MICC)-Fort Riley office as well as the Kansas Department of Commerce – Office of Minority & Women Business Development to host the 2019 Small Business Procurement Day.

“Procurement Day’s primary focus is to connect agency buyers with small businesses in the local area.” says Kristi Dunn, KS PTAC Topeka Subcenter Director. “It will also allow them to learn about the federal contracts queued up for the next fiscal year from various agencies.”

This free, one-day networking event will include briefings, training sessions, such as Contracting 101, FedBid/GSA Purchasing, and one-on-one Agency-Vendor Engagement opportunities. Special guest speakers include Secretary of Commerce David Toland, 923rdCBN/MICC Commander LTC Robert Bartruff who will lead the morning welcome.

Organizations that will be present for this event include Ft. Riley 923rdCBN/MICC, Whiteman Air Force Base 509THContracting Squadron, Kansas Army and Air National Guard, McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas Department of Commerce, MICC Office of Small Business Programs, City of Topeka, U.S. Department of Agriculture, GSA Department of Small Business and the Small Business Administration. Agency participation from Federal, State and local entities is currently still available. If your organization would like to be included, please contact Kristi Dunn at Kristi.Dunn@TopekaPartnership for further information.

The 923rd CBC/MICC - Ft. Riley played a lead role in creating this event for both small business owners as well as federal and local agencies. “We are excited,” says Dunn, “to have federal leadership working to include small businesses in contracting opportunities. This can help a business grow significantly, as well as provide necessary goods and or services to an agency. A win-win for everyone.”

All categories of small business are invited to attend. To register for Procurement Day, visit www.CenterGateway.com/00600T/index.php?EVT=53665
