Irene Davis is a mother, wife, grandmother and a successful entrepreneur. Irene delivers exceptional service as a local travel agent who helps makes travel dreams come true. Additionally, she has a philanthropist heart and is always seeking opportunities to help others.

Irene personally designed and made t-shirts and book bags to be given to girls in the My Little Sistah mentoring/book club program in Topeka. When she is not traveling, she finds time to help others whenever she can, whether it is hands on or financial assistance.

TK: What inspires me?
IRENE:
Growth,  I was taught as a young girl from my grandparents that growing and being resilient will never fail me in my life journey. Continuing to grow and encouraging others to grow is a daily inspiration for me. There are bumps purposely in our journeys but being able to overcome them and see where I can be a anchor to help others overcome is very important to me.

TK: What advice do you have for others?
IRENE: Know your purpose. In life we can aspire to do many things and have great goals to get there, But knowing your purpose brings about a different impact in your life and others.

TK: What is the greatest lesson you have learned on your journey?
IRENE:
The greatest lesson I have learned is to listen and continue to learn. There has been so much I have learned from others on this journey. Early on sometimes I missed the opportunities just because I did not take the time to listen. Listening more has taken my growth to another level in knowing, where can I make a better impact. What can I help change? How can I do more? And my “Why” always takes me back to listening, cause I always ask “Why did I not know?”

The YWCA is on a mission to empower women at all stages in their careers. Diversity in leadership is particularly vital to our vibrant business community in the Greater Topeka Area.

The YWCA is celebrating 31 years of recognizing Women of Excellence in our community with the theme “Dare to be Powerful.” We dare to be powerful, despite whatever obstacles may present themselves along the way.

“When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.”
- Audre Lorde
