Shellie Clawson
Logistics and Procurement Manager
CoreFirst Bank & Trust

Shellie’s dedication and attention to detail give her the uncanny ability to keep multiple projects moving forward. As the Logistics and Procurement Manager, her role is indispensable to our organization and our customers. Despite her vast responsibilities, she leads by creating only the best example for her staff by listening, coaching and building strengths. A job well-done never goes unrecognized as she makes it a point to make her employees feel valued and important.

Shellie is also responsible for a customer touch point that is assesable 24 hours a day in several locations. If the system goes down , she is always there to fix the issue whether it is 2 PM or 2 AM on a Monday or Saturday night. She also keeps our locations safe as the administrator to our access, alarm and key inventory for over 300 employees.

Most importantly, Shellie is a mentor to her team of employees and is an amazing role model to all that she encounters. She provides education, support and feedback with her team and always makes sure to share the credit for all that her department does. She never allows a job well-done to go unrecognized and makes all of her employees feel valued and important. Shellie is a TRUE leader.

Shellie was involved with the Army Reserve, 129th Transportation Company for nine years. Through her involvement with the Army Reserve she learned valuable lessons in leadership, team work, being solutions oriented and performing in adversity. Our honoree was deployed during Operation Desert Storm. During her deployment she and her company followed soldiers as the moved and provided them with the items they needed as they lead the offensive.

TK: What inspires you?
SHELLIE:
When people have gone through trying times and still get out in the world, do their best and with a smile on their face.

TK: What advice do you have for others?
SHELLIE:
Don’t let others knock you down.  And if they do, get up, dust yourself off and keep going.

TK: What is the greatest lesson you have learned on your journey?
SHELLIE:
Just keep working hard and things will come in time.

The YWCA is on a mission to empower women at all stages in their careers. Diversity in leadership is particularly vital to our vibrant business community in the Greater Topeka Area.

The YWCA is celebrating 31 years of recognizing Women of Excellence in our community with the theme “Dare to be Powerful.” We dare to be powerful, despite whatever obstacles may present themselves along the way.

“When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.”
- Audre Lorde
