Cardiologist Zia Rahman, M.D., FACP, Joins Stormont Vail Health

Dr. Rahman grew up in a remote village in Pakistan, and there was a need for health care in his country. Growing up with this need motivated Dr. Rahman to become a physician, giving him the human connection he wanted in his career as well as the ability to help people when they are most vulnerable. Starting out as a family physician, he wanted to specialize in one area. He chose cardiology because of the amount of heart disease and other heart-related illnesses in the United States and he knew that he could save more lives and have a bigger impact in this field.

“I really enjoy becoming a partner in a patient’s health, helping them to realize that they need to be a champion of their health and life,” Rahman said. “I want to be there for patients and guide them to becoming healthier.”

Dr. Rhaman earned his medical degree in 2001 from King Edward Medical College, Pakistan. Dr. Rahman’s most recent position was at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee, where he had been since 2005 in multiple positions. In 2016, Dr. Rahman transitioned into a cardiology fellowship at East Tennessee State University.

In his free time, Dr. Rahman enjoys traveling around the world including his favorite place, Eastern Europe. He also enjoys hiking, movies and watching cricket, a sport popular in Pakistan.
