Stormont Vail Health Recognized by U.S. News & World Report

Stormont Vail Health Recognized by U.S. News & World Report

Stormont Vail was ranked second in Kansas and achieved the highest rating possible in four procedures or conditions: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart failure, hip replacement and knee replacement.

“Our consistent ranking among the top hospitals in the state and country continues to show that our team is dedicated to providing excellent care that exceeds the expectations of our patients,” said Dr. Robert Kenagy, Stormont Vail Health president and CEO. “This ranking is a great reward for our team, and we will continue to work hard each day as we strive to optimize the health of individuals and improve the health of our communities.”

Mayo Clinic, with whom Stormont Vail is affiliated through the Mayo Clinic Care Network, was ranked first in the nation on U.S. News & World Report’s 2019-2020 Best Hospitals Honor Roll, ranking first in more specialties than any other hospital in the nation. Through membership with the Mayo Clinic Care Network, the knowledge and expertise of Mayo Clinic providers is extended to Stormont Vail providers and patients.

The U.S. News analysis of hospitals includes data from nearly 5,000 centers across multiple clinical specialties, procedures and conditions. Scores are based on a variety of patient outcome and care-related factors, such as patient safety and nurse staffing. Hospitals are ranked nationally in specialties and regionally in states and major metro areas. U.S. News assigns a rating to hospitals in a handful of common procedures and conditions.

According U.S. News, the Best Regional Hospitals rankings were created to provide consumers who want to stay close to home with an overall assessment of their region's hospitals across multiple areas of care. To be recognized regionally, a hospital must have been either nationally ranked in one of the 12 specialties or received ratings of high performing in three or more of those specialties or the procedures and conditions.

For patients and their physicians, these and other rankings and ratings should be seen as a starting point when considering where to go for care. Individual diagnosis and personal priorities will dictate their personal best choice.
