New BCBSKS Maternity Program Helps Expectant Moms Have Healthy Babies
Millions of women give birth in the U.S. every year. Many of these women have healthy pregnancies and deliveries. However, a nationwide analysis of Blue Cross Blue Shield Association data reveals an increasing number of women are experiencing pregnancy and childbirth complications.
As a way to help expectant mothers have healthy pregnancies and babies, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) is pleased to announce its newest wellness program: a maternity program. With our new maternity program, expectant mothers can get personalized care from nurses to help guide them through their pregnancy. BCBSKS wellness nurses stay in contact with the woman's primary doctor throughout the program and are available as extra support during the pregnancy.
This program is open to pregnant women who have Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas as their primary health insurance and is provided at no additional cost. The maternity program is a convenient, telephone-based service that includes at least four calls: one each trimester and a postpartum assessment.
BCBSKS also has programs to help members manage asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, tobacco cessation, weight loss and stress management.
More details can be found at bcbsks.com/Wellness. Members, who have BCBSKS as primary insurance, can enroll by completing an online enrollment form at bcbsks.com/enroll or by calling 800-520-3137.
