ARCHITECT FIRM FINDS CREATIVE WAYS TO ‘BUILD UP’ THEIR COMMUNITY
[Topeka, Kan] – Architect One, a multi-disciplinary design firm with offices in Topeka, Manhattan and Kansas City, is leading the charge with a creative way to ‘build up’ their local communities during the COVID-19 crisis.
In a Facebook post on Monday, the team at Architect One challenged their followers to design a structure using items available in their house. Once complete, viewers have been instructed to post the photo on social media and tag the architect firm for a chance to win gift cards to local small businesses of their choice.
“We, at Architect One, have been so encouraged and uplifted by the efforts being made to assist our fellow small businesses, healthcare workers and communities as a whole,” said Scott Gales, President and CEO of Architect One. “Through donations, relief programs and the general goodwill of people all across the Midwest, we are truly inspired by those around us.”
The contest was established by the Architect One team after many had elected to work from home to support social distancing. With members of their Kansas City, Missouri office now falling under the ‘stay at home’ ordinance set to begin on Tuesday, the group of creatives wanted to find unique ways to combat boredom and inspire creativity.
“Our team is creative by nature and while we fully support the efforts to stay at home and do our part to help flatten the curve, we still have to find ways to keep the creative juices flowing,” said Gales. “I’m proud of my team for coming up with ways to not just do that, but to engage our local community and help support our fellow small businesses. That’s a major part of our mission at Architect One.”
The team has established the hashtag #AOCovidDesignChallenge as part of this contest, and encourages everyone to share their building skills on social media or by emailing photos and videos to archone@ao.design.
