Small Businesses Receive Private HOST Relief Funding
The Greater Topeka Partnership announced that the private donations raised through the HOST Relief Program were delivered to 16 additional Shawnee County small businesses, bringing the total to 20 so far. HOST, or Helping Others Support Topeka, was created to provide emergency funding to local businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Over $600,000 in private HOST Relief donations have been raised to purchase gift cards from local businesses.
“I think all the private donors will agree with me that providing this funding is the least we can do to give back to our community’s small businesses,” said Eric Hunsicker, HOST private donor and agent and advisor for Kansas Financial Resources. “When we realized we had the power to help our neighbors, we heeded the call. We must not lose sight of the fact that this pandemic is affecting more than just you and me, but the community as a whole.”
“GO Topeka is proud to play a role in supporting our local businesses. Being able to go out today to deliver these checks to business owners who are facing such difficult obstacles is a reward in itself,” said Molly Howey, president of GO Topeka. “We are committed to standing by our Topeka entrepreneurs and getting through this together.”
Additional recipients will be announced next week.
