A House Concert, Outdoors: Live Summer Concert Series at the Historic Vinewood

A House Concert, Outdoors: Live Summer Concert Series at the Historic Vinewood

The Historic Vinewood has been the backdrop for community events, dances and concerts for over 130 years, and this summer is no different.

The Vinewood has teamed up with seveneightfive magazine and ArtsConnect to present four summer concerts that highlight a myriad of local artistic talents.

HOUSE CONCERT HISTORY

“Seveneightfive House Concerts” presented by ArtsConnect and seveneightfive magazine began March 20 bringing Topekans a virtual, live streamed experience each week. Artists performed in their homes and guests watched the show in theirs. 12 concerts featured almost 40 artists, providing over $3,000 to support local artists through ArtsConnect Artist Relief Funds.

The “house concert” experience is now being transformed into a LIVE simulcasted experience at The Historic Vinewood. Each show will feature up to three local acts and may combine music, poetry and visual arts. The live experience includes unique social distancing strategies to foster safety and community and the event will be available online as well.

THE VINEWOOD: SUMMER CONCERTS UNDER THE STARS

The Vinewood sits on 5.1 acres and is located by Lake Shawnee. An outdoor stage area has been identified and seating will be presented in 6x6 foot blocks (chalked off) and serve as a “house” for guests at each show. Each square may host two to five people and will be spaced six to 12 feet apart. Guests should bring their own lawn chair or blanket. The first two rows of squares are located on concrete slabs (what once served as tennis courts at The Vinewood Park) and remaining rows are located in the grass.

A limited menu will be available for phone orders from The Shack, which resides and shares parking with The Vinewood. No outside food or drink allowed.

Three cash bars will be set up on the outside parameter providing spirits, beer and non-alcoholic refreshments. Cash bars will be stocked with pricing to fit $5 / $10 / $20 incremental purchases. Guests are asked to bring cash in smaller bills that assist with reducing the number of exchanges between staff and attendees.

The shows are ages. Must be 21+ to drink and have ID on you.

SIMULCASTED CONCERT

The concerts will also be streamed for those who would like to attend from the comfort of their own home. Ticket / donations are requested with funds assisting streaming costs, payment of artists and Artist Relief Funds. Learn more at live.seveneightfive.com
