YWCA Women of Excellence: Jamie Dempewolf
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the amount of commitment, compassion, and dedication I see from volunteers throughout Topeka from the many different agencies in our community.
But it is the amount of passion displayed from our CASA of Shawnee County volunteers as they come alongside kids while they are going through some of their darkest times that truly inspires me to continue the hard work that we do everyday.
What advice do you have for others?
Find what you're good at and what you're passionate about and then turn around and find a way to use that talent to build up other people.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned on your journey?
In order to make changes I have to make waves.
What does your vision for our community look like?
I would love to see our community members come together and realize the power they have to make necessary improvements to better the lives of everyone and take pride in our community. It truly takes a village!
What does "Equal - Powerful - Unstoppable" mean to you?
With genuine equality then we as a community could be powerful enough to make changes and be absolutely unstoppable!
