What inspires you?

I am inspired by the ability of individuals to come together, put aside any personal agendas, and through hard work achieve a common mutually beneficial goal. I value when differing points of views are shared, people listen to and appreciate one another's perspectives, and ultimately create a unified direction to move forward toward success.

What advice do you have for others?

Remember that nobody is perfect. When you make a mistake, be accountable for it and learn from it because mistakes have the power to turn you into someone better than you were before. The humility we gather from these mistakes is a valuable tool of leadership- and friendship.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned on your journey?

We need to embrace being human. Look for and celebrate different qualities in ourselves and others that enrich our lives and cultures. It’s important to treat everyone with respect and civility.

What does your vision for our community look like?

I would love to see our neighborhoods filled with residents who are proud to say they live in Topeka. This would be achieved through mutual accountability, improved quality of life, and welcomed diversity that creates a sense of one community that rallies to each other's side in times of need. Education, our environment, and the economic well-being of the community as a whole would be prioritized.

What does "Equal - Powerful - Unstoppable" mean to you?

A community where each individual's unique background is equally respected and considered in the process of creating a more united and momentous journey toward a fully just society.
