Bison—determined, protective, strong and free.
What do you wish someone had told you long ago?
Give others the benefit of the doubt. Don’t automatically jump to the conclusion that they acted intentionally.
What leader do you admire the most?
Ben Franklin. He recognized that complex problems require collaborative teamwork to solve. This meant that he first had to define the common goal and persuade others to become invested in the mission. More than a great leader, he was also civic-minded (founded the first library and fire insurance company in America and served as first U.S. postmaster), a humorist (Poor Richard’s Almanack) and was inventive (bifocals, lightning rod, Franklin stove).
What three hashtags describe you best?
#inquisitive I like to investigate and learn about new areas of study.
#Kansashistorygeek I’m interested in territorial Kansas and early statehood history.
#bluegrasslife I’m a big fan of bluegrass music, particularly the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, and am trying to master the fiddle.
