Who are your heroes?
Father and Mother. My father started E.N.T.E.R., an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center in five boroughs of New York, out of compassion for people with addictions. The fact that they are still standing today is a legacy I want to leave in Topeka. My mother raised my big sister and me alone in Topeka along with many others that were not family by blood but by love.

What do you hope your legacy will be?
That the city, state and world would know that I was about love, compassion, uniting across boundaries and spreading good cheer through the arts, especially dance.

How has the current situation impacted your thoughts on leadership?
Both negative and positive. Seeing things that I thought I would never see in my adult life, like I experienced in my youth with racism and the leadership bickering back and forth and the silence of people in leadership that could have taken a stand and didn't.

What superpower would you choose?
The ability to read minds at will. To hear the real thoughts and processes of people when I feel that something else is truly going on in which I could try to intervene to make it a positive situation for all involved.

Name something on your bucket list?
To travel to five regions of Africa—Northern, Eastern, Western, Southern and Central—to experience my full culture continent.
