Foulston Siefkin LLP Elects Jason Lacey Managing Partner

Foulston Siefkin LLP Elects Jason Lacey Managing Partner

Foulston Siefkin LLP’s partners have elected Jason Lacey as the firm’s managing partner effective June 1. Lacey, who has served on the firm’s executive committee since 2013, is a business and tax lawyer whose practice focuses on employee benefits and executive compensation. He will continue to serve clients in addition to his firm leadership responsibilities.

Lacey succeeds Kevin Arnel, the firm’s managing partner for the past eight years. Arnel, who chose not to stand for re-election as managing partner based on growth in his practice, will remain a member of the firm’s five-member executive committee and a partner in the firm with an active tax-exempt and business law practice.

A Kansas native, Lacey earned his undergraduate degree in music performance from Wichita State University, following that with a J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law. After earning an advanced tax degree (LL.M.) from New York University, Lacey joined Foulston’s tax team, where he frequently works with employers in the highly technical area of ERISA and employee benefits. He has been identified by lawyer-ranking organizations Chambers USA, Best Lawyers, and Missouri & Kansas SuperLawyers as a leading lawyer in the area of employee benefits, executive compensation, and labor and employment. Lacey has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, frequently speaks at the national, regional, and local level on employee benefits topics, and serves on the adjunct faculty at the University of Kansas School of Law.

Four additional executive committee members, also elected by firm partners, work closely with Lacey to govern the firm on the partners’ behalf. Those executive committee members elected for 2021 are Kevin Arnel, Brooke Bennett Aziere, Tony Rupp, and Bill Wood. This represents no change in the composition of the executive committee, with only the managing partner role changing.

“I’m very honored that my partners have entrusted me to be managing partner, and I appreciate all that Kevin has done to put and keep Foulston in a strong position now and for the future,” Lacey says. “Because of that foundation, our firm’s direction is already in place. We’re committed to continue delivering high quality, practical legal counsel to our clients, building and maintaining a great place to work for our Foulston team, and playing an active role in the communities in which we work and live.”

“Jason is an outstanding choice for Foulston’s managing partner on many levels,” says Arnel. “His proven leadership capabilities, the respect in which he is held within the firm and the community, and the fact that he’s an outstanding lawyer will make him an excellent managing partner.”
