Brianne Johnson | YWCA Women of Excellence
TK: What inspires you?
BRIANNE: Possibilities, Experiences, and Progress The women who have paved the way before me.
TK: What have you learned about yourself through the challenges of the past year and a half?
BRIANNE: I’ve learned personally that I have a lot to be grateful for- from my health to my job- I understand that the past year and a half has been incredibly difficult for many people and I am very grateful. I’ve learned professionally that we have the ability to adapt to new environments quickly and show value in non-traditional ways.
TK: How do you take care of yourself?
BRIANNE: I am always my best mentally and physically when I make it a priority to work-out and I also make sure that every night I give myself time to decompress from the day.
TK: What is the best advice you've ever been given? Or what advice do you have for others?
BRIANNE: I have a firm belief that people will do business with people that they like and that they trust and respect and that everything in business starts with a good relationship. I think that’s important to always keep in mind and it’s something I focus on every day.
TK: What is your vision for our community? Has it changed through the pandemic and racial justice reckoning of 2020?
BRIANNE: My vision is a community where everyone has equal opportunities for a productive and rewarding life. A place where we eliminate discrimination and we treat each other with respect and dignity.
TK: The mission of YWCA is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. What does YWCA's mission mean to you?
BRIANNE: It means doing everything I can in my position to advance gender equality– whether it be to advocate for financial literacy of women across the country or to see that more women succeed in the financial services industry- making sure I continue to do my part.
The YWCA is on a mission to empower women at all stages in their careers. Diversity in leadership is particularly vital to our vibrant business community in the Greater Topeka Area.
