Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

TK: What inspires you?

ANGEL: Knowing that the knowledge that I have learned from others can be shared and help someone earlier in life (especially girls and women) greatly inspires me to "bee" more.

TK: What have you learned about yourself through the challenges of the past year and a half?

ANGEL: Hope is way more important than I have ever given it credit. Faith, hope and charity are three very distinctive things.

TK: How do you take care of yourself?

ANGEL: Serving in organizations is how I take care of myself. I get to share and feed off the energy of others and feel ignited and inspired.

TK: What is the best advice you've ever been given? Or what advice do you have for others?

ANGEL: The best advice I have been given is, "choose your tears." If you chose "fill in the blank for a hard task" there will be tears but understand if you do not there will still be tears. Choose your tears very carefully.

TK: What is your vision for our community? Has it changed through the pandemic and racial justice reckoning of 2020?

ANGEL: To be a beacon for other communities is my vision. While it has not changed over the last two years, I have become an even bigger advocate that we are the right size to be a model for others and we must seize the moment. Moments matter.

TK: The mission of YWCA is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. What does YWCA's mission mean to you?

ANGEL: The YWCA mission to me represents very special individuals that have come together to form groups with whatever privilege they have to make the world better for others. I love that the YWCA has been so purposeful in recognizing so many women and prove that our pool of amazingly talented women is not a limited few (over 750 women over the last 30 years AND nominating over 35 women this year does not lessen the pool of eligible women in our community)

The YWCA is on a mission to empower women at all stages in their careers. Diversity in leadership is particularly vital to our vibrant business community in the Greater Topeka Area.
