Nominations now open for 2022 LGT Alumni Awards

Nominations now open for 2022 LGT Alumni Awards

Nominations are now open for this year’s Leadership Greater Topeka Alumni Awards, scheduled for Thursday, May 19 at downtown venue The Beacon, 420 S.W. 9th St. The awards are designed to honor LGT alumni who demonstrate consistent ability to lead on both personal and professional levels for the greater good of the community. The awards reception will also recognize a local business or organization that has gone above and beyond to provide support and leadership to residents of Topeka and Shawnee County.

The decision was made to combine this year’s LGT awards gala and graduation. The two events will be held jointly at The Beacon on May 19, in order to celebrate both active LGT alumni and the 2022 graduating class. This is the third year alumni awards will be presented.

“It is so important for our community to recognize and celebrate impactful leadership when we see it,” said Michelle Cuevas-Stubblefield, LGT supervisor and the Greater Topeka Partnership’s senior vice president of strategy. “Leadership Greater Topeka does this by developing local leaders who want to give back and make a difference in the area. Our awards gala is an extension of our LGT programming, as it highlights those LGT alums who have truly put their training and community-driven mindset to work post graduation.”

Any Topeka or Shawnee County resident may nominate LGT alumni for these awards, and nominees must be graduates of the LGT program to be considered. Nominations may be submitted in four different categories:

  • Rising Star Award: Presented to individuals demonstrating leadership in their daily lives as they work to better themselves, others and the community. They are strong, passionate individuals sharing their leadership skills with others. (2 selected)

  • Activator Award: Presented to individuals who not only demonstrate leadership daily but have shared their experiences and helped guide others to discover their own abilities to lead. These recipients are actively involved in the community and making it better every step of the way, throughout their careers. (2 selected)

  • Marsha Sheahan Legacy Award: Honors a local professional who has demonstrated unwavering leadership throughout their career, leaving behind a legacy of impactful, community-focused work. (1 selected)

  • Partnership Award: Recognizes the support of a businesses or organization in the community that delivers strategic, financial, participatory support and leadership community wide. (1 selected)
