Stormont Vail Health Welcomes Lincoln Center OB/GYN Heather Morrison, M.D.

Stormont Vail Health proudly welcomes Dr. Heather Morrison, an OB/GYN specializing in a broad range of women’s health services, to the Stormont Vail Women’s Services team. Dr. Morrison provides a spectrum of women’s health services in Stormont Vail OB/GYN Lincoln Center, 800 SW Lincoln St., and the Stormont Vail Topeka Campus Hospital, 1500 SW 10th Ave.

“My day-to-day practice is different,” said Dr. Morrison. “I have surgical procedures, hospital rounding, visiting with patients in the hospital, sometimes delivering babies as a hospital-based OB/GYN, and other days I practice and seeing patients in the clinic.”

Dr. Morrison, a native Kansan from Hiawatha, often watched popular medical shows like “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,” or “Quincy M.E.” with her mother while her older siblings attended school.

While this experience piqued her interest in medicine and encouraged her to become a physician, growing up in a family of teaching professionals instilled a deep regard for education. After more than 17 years of practice, this appreciation continues to influence Dr. Morrison’s outlook on patient care.

“Education is crucial – it’s the basis of how I approach the care I provide patients. I allow patients to guide their care and make a choice that helps them feel confident in their decisions.”

Through this focus on education, Dr. Morrison strives to ease much of the anxiety associated with OB/GYN visits and motivate more women to stay updated on their primary and preventative care. Her encouragement and expertise will go a long way to ensure more women recognize the importance of attending routine women’s health appointments.

“These appointments can be stressful, so I try to address that directly and acknowledge that this isn’t anyone’s favorite kind of visit. I thank them for coming and taking care of this important part of their health and try to put them at ease before diving into sensitive topics and exams.”

Dr. Morrison is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She completed her medical degree and residency at the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas. While pursuing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Morrison discovered her passion for women’s healthcare and decided to become an OB/GYN.

With the recent partnership between Stormont Vail and Lincoln Center Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dr. Morrison hopes to deliver more support and education to the community as a practitioner at the Stormont Vail OB/GYN Lincoln Center.

Dr. Morrison is accepting new patients. Call (785) 233-5101 to schedule an appointment.
