Local Volunteer Association Hosts A One-Day Conference On Oct. 18th
Managers of Volunteer Engagement (M.O.V.E.) will present a one-day training from 8am – 3:30pm on October 18th at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library. This training, titled “Leveraging Technology in a Human World: Inclusively, Responsibly, Creatively” will focus on equipping leaders of volunteers with the skills to use modern technology while keeping the human aspect that is key to any volunteer program. Designed for those who engage volunteers, service delivery programs, and nonprofits, this one-day training event features three internationally known speakers. The training presentations will be broadcast live in the United States and Canada on October 18th from Ontario, Canada to our local training in Topeka KS. Participants will receive handouts, worksheets, and will connect and network with nearly 1,000 of their peers on a face-to-face and electronic level at over 50 remote locations across the United States, Canada and Australia.
Nikki MacMillan (COO at Topeka Habitat and Program Chair for M.O.V.E.), is excited to be hosting this professional development opportunity. “This is a great opportunity to bring national and international speakers and trainers directly to our community. With many of our community agencies working with limited resources, we can provide a quality learning experience without our local participants having to travel.”
“We are grateful to have community sponsors and organizations that allow us to offer this opportunity at a reduced cost to make it accessible to anyone that wants to participate.” Sponsors and partners for the event include; United Way of Kaw Valley, Advisors Excel, Kansas Volunteer Commission, M.O.V.E. Topeka, and T&SCPL.
Attendees will also receive professional development credit units for recertification of the Certified Volunteer Administrator credential.
