Topeka Area Communicators Scholarship Open Nov. 1, 2023
Topeka area students seeking communications-related careers can soon apply for a new scholarship to help with the cost of their higher education.
Thanks to the Topeka Community Foundation and the final board of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) of Topeka, an endowed scholarship will give back to students in the community for years to come.
“Although our chapter of IABC Topeka has closed, our mission lives on to grow the communications community of Topeka,” said Kristin Ross, former three-term president of IABC Topeka. “Encouraging future communicators to pursue a worthwhile education and enter into a challenging, ever-evolving, and rewarding career is exactly the kind of legacy we’re proud to leave.”
The Topeka Community Foundation accepted a check from former IABC Topeka board members on Oct. 13 for more than $13,000 to establish the Topeka Area Communicators Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will be awarded annually, starting with the 2024-2025 school year.
Applicants can apply for a $500 annual scholarship through the Topeka Community Foundation website at https://topekacommunityfoundation.org/scholarships-apply-here.
“We consider it a privilege to administer this meaningful scholarship and partner with IABC in investing in the education of students,” said Marsha Pope, president of the Topeka Community Foundation.
The Topeka Area Communicators Scholarship will join the list of dozens of other available scholarships administered by the Topeka Community Foundation. Application information will be available at topekacommunityfoundation.org starting Nov. 1.
