Civium Architecture Welcomes Jon Schaffhausen, AIA, as Project Architect
Civium Architecture and Planning proudly announces the addition of Jon Schaffhausen, AIA, to its growing team. Joining as a Project Architect, he brings a wealth of experience and fresh insights to the firm.
Schaffhausen embarked on his architectural journey in 2016 after a decade in church ministry. His new career began with a focus on high-end residential design. Since becoming a licensed architect in 2021 (registered in Wisconsin and Missouri), he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to traditional designs that uplift and serve both clients and communities. A desire to apply his skills to the design of churches led him to Civium.
“Jon’s journey, transitioning from a decade in church ministry to specializing in traditional residential design, brings an added dimension to Civium Architecture. His interest in classical design and churches aligns well with our values and portfolio. Jon's past experiences bring immense value, contributing to our ability to craft significant spaces for worship, particularly for our Catholic clients,” says David Heit, AIA, NCARB, Founding Principal of Civium.
Currently, Schaffhausen is applying his expertise to several prominent projects at Civium, including the Kansas School for the Blind HeadStart, SLI 7th Street Group Home Renovation and Kansas Department of Parks and Wildlife’s new Colby Field Office.
Beyond his architectural pursuits, Schaffhausen finds joy in activities such as rollerblading, along with camping and hiking. Jon, along with his wife and their five children, proudly calls Lenexa, Kansas, home.
