Acclaimed Impact Investor Scheduled to Speak at Washburn University as Part of Topeka Social Entrepreneurship Engagement Project

Traditional business models are changing to include social impact, not just financial reward. Acclaimed impact investor and educator James Rhee will talk about the paradigm shift at 3 p.m., Friday, March 3 in Washburn Room A, Memorial Union, on the Washburn University campus.

Rhee uses his experiences as a founder, CEO, goodwill strategist and community connector to empower people, brands and organizations by marrying capital and creativity. He is an award-winning thought leader on topics such as multidimensional transformation, the intersection of capital, race and gender, the future of capitalism and values-based investing and leadership.

His newest venture, red helicopter, is forging alliances through the principles of kindness and math to shape a more sustainable form of capitalism. His work has been featured by TED Conference, Brené Brown and the leading global media outlets and platforms.

Rhee’s visit is part of the Topeka Social Entrepreneurship Engagement Project, a collaboration among GO Topeka, Washburn University School of Business, Washburn University Small Business Development Center, Topeka Community Health Foundation, Omni Circle Group and Shawnee Startups. It is designed to inspire and support creation of businesses that have a social mission component for the benefit of our community.

The event is free and open to the public with a reception to follow.
