What led you to this career?
I went into nursing because I wanted to help people. Though I no longer work at the bedside, my position now allows me to have an impact on care and outcomes at systems level. I find this aspect of my work very meaningful and rewarding.
What is the secret to a good life?
For me, the not-so-secret to a good life is maintaining a focus on the things that truly matter, God and people (family/friends).
What do you do for fun or to recharge?
I love the outdoors and specifically fishing. My family also enjoys those things and thus we spend a lot of time on the lake in the summer.
What is your leadership style?
I strive to be a servant leader and work hard to remove barriers so that my teams can be successful.
Who would play you in a movie about your life?
Obviously, Ryan Reynolds, due to our striking resemblance.
What have you learned from the pandemic?
Maintaining flexibility and working to effectively leverage the strengths of a group to respond to a rapidly changing challenge is essential.
What characteristics do you value most in your coworkers?
I really love working on and with engaged teams toward a common goal or aim. There is nothing more exciting that solving a problem/improving a process with a group of people that makes a difference to staff and patients.
What’s the last series you binge-watched?
I try to steer clear the binge-worthy tv shows because I inevitably find myself saying “I’ll just watch one more episode” and all of a sudden it’s 2am and tired the next day We usually just watch Seinfeld or something like that.
